Today, even with the cold weather, over 100 people attended the UFM Press Conference to announce the venue for the Utah Freedom Memorial, a statewide memorial celebrating freedom and educating children as to the cost of freedom, and honoring all of Utah’s military from before statehood to today’s current war on terrorism.. and beyond…

The media covered the event in an all-out fashion. All four major TV stations sent crews and cameras to cover the event. Several newspapers also ran stories. See our News Room for postings of coverage.

The program included the following speakers: Lt. Governor Gary Herbert, Tony Galvez, Scott Trudo, Perry Van Schelt, SL County Mayor Peter Caroon, and Sandy City Mayor Tom Dolan. Young singer Jayden Bliss sang an original patriotic song, ‘We Thank You’.

A semi-circle of 100 eight foot tall flags helps visitors visualize where the monument will be located. On display was a scale model and color rendering of the actual monument.
